At the top of this page you can navigatye thru and find diagrams of different models they made etc. (On ezy-loader trailers look on the inside of the metal box frame where it joins to the drawbar that goes to the hitch, actually inside the tube.) Once you have that go here to find you trailer model, you will also be able to decode your vin from this link, model year of manufacture, length, where it was made etc. It should be clear on this label, it was crystal clear on mine. With Escort trailers look on the inside of the main beams that run to the back of the trailer, about 1-2ft from the back of the trailer. VIN should also be somewhere else on the trailer other than on the compliance label. So I vowed to share my knowledge once I jumped thru all the hoops, as I found links like this one invaluable and helped me avoid having to export the trailer back to the us.so here goes. I also had the problem of the Compliance label being unreadable as the ink had faded and need all kinds of info from this label to complete the importation process. I have recently imported a 20' Escort trailer from the US to Canada.
